Current status of the climate project (information on the climate project implementation)

To date, within the framework of the climate project "Creation of protective plantings on the territory of the Volgograd CHPP", the key stages ensuring the successful achievement of the project objectives have been fully completed. Poplar seedlings with a closed root system were planted on a total area of 5.19 hectares in three stages: in the spring of 2022, 2023 and 2024. Measures for planting and caring for seedlings, including soil preparation, planting of seedlings and the use of agrotechnical techniques such as drip irrigation, have made it possible to achieve a high survival rate of plants (83% for 2024). Scientific research works aimed at studying the depositing ability of poplar hybrids in the conditions of the Volgograd region have been carried out. Tests have shown the high efficiency of plants in absorbing carbon dioxide. Justifications for the selection of breeds for further use in afforestation have been prepared and presented. A project monitoring plan has been developed, including regular assessment of carbon stocks in biomass, litter, soil and dead wood, as well as the first measurements and calculations. The forecast results show that the implementation of measures already at this tap ensures a steady increase in carbon uptake in the project area. The project has been tested for compliance with legislative requirements and has been adapted in accordance with methodology No. 0025 "Afforestation and Phytorecultivation". The documentation is fully documented in accordance with current standards. All planning, boarding, and initial monitoring activities have been completed.
