Trading in carbon units begins at the National Commodity Exchange (NTB, Moscow Exchange Group). The transactions include carbon units previously registered by Kontur JSC, the administrator of the carbon units registry.

Trading is conducted in a commodity auction format with the seller of the carbon units setting the starting price, and prospective buyers bidding for their purchase.

At the end of the first day of trading, two purchase and sale transactions had been concluded for a total volume of 20 carbon units. The weighted average selling price was 1,000 Russian roubles per carbon unit.

The units were purchased by SovTech Volgo-Vyatka LLC and JSC TAMAK.
